Happy Halloween

Our little strawberry would like to say Happy Halloween!

I will admit we really did not participate in Halloween activities this year.   Destiny brought Pix into my work all dressed up and then we left there to go see Grandma Billie.  That is about all we did…but what could get better than eating dinner in a costume??? Nothing!

Play time with mom

We had the camera out from when we went to the pumpkin farm and so I thought Bridget and I would take some self portraits while we were playing....I think I will have to work on this with her...she was very confused by it and really just wanted to play with her barnyard toy.

What are you doing? Why are you so close to me?

We spend a ton of time on Fridays playing with our new barnyard toy...You made a match look what you did, you a made a match, its a cow-pig...a cow-pig...moo-oink...that is silly!  She just figured out that you do not need the little animals to make it sing. She was pretty happy about that.

Pumpkin Patch with Grammy and Grampa

It is pumpkin time!!!  Brendan and I are not really big celebrators of any holiday especially Halloween.   We are those people that put candy in a bowl on the doorstep and pretend like we are not home when the trick-or-treaters arrive.   This year though,  I really wanted to get pumpkins at the farm where Brendan and I got married.  I thought it would be a fun tradition to start.   I invited Grandma Cathy and Grandpa Leroy to join in the festivities and they were totally in!   It was a short visit with grandma and grandpa but it was a lot of fun.

I love my grandma

I miss my auntie

We were playing in the living room and Bridget kept pointing at the table top .   We keep a stuffed lion up there so I got it down and she was still pointing….I got the phone down and it was still not what she wanted…so I picked her up to get what she wanted. She reached for a picture of Auntie Keri.   I grabbed it and put Bridget down on the ground with it.   She proceeded to give it kisses.   When I went to take it away she put it above her head because she was CLEARLY not done.   It melted my heart!  We both miss Auntie Keri!

Mom do not take this away yet....

I really need to give her kisses!

We then went over to Grandma Billie's house to play for a bit.

We found the chair and are crawling

If you have read this blog for any period of time you would know that the “fun land” chair saved Brendan and my life the first couple of month of Bridget’s existence.  There were days that it was really the only thing that would make her happy or the only way we could get her to sleep!   Over time….somehow without even noticing the chair got replaced by toys and a crib…so there the chair sat…lonely by the side of the couch out of the way and out of view for the most part.

Well today Bridget saw it out of the corner of her eye and crawled to it.  I swear to you she totally remembered it and had to sit in it….so I brought it out in front of my chair just like I did when she was an infant and she sat in it for a good 30 minutes…This time though she wanted me to rock her and give her toys…treating it like her own little throne! It is no longer a soother;  it is a toy!

Oh right….in case you missed it…she is on the move and fully crawling.
.

She is very focused when she plays...always trying to figure out what the toy is about.

The crawl....

Pixie turns 11 Months

Bridget's personality is really developing and it is so fun to watch. There are times she looks at me and raises her little eyebrows...and I swear to you it is Brendan! She is so funny and sweet.
Physical Milestones:  We are crawling all over the place and starting to try to pull to a standing position.  She can stand and hold on to something if you help her get to the standing position.
Favorite Toys: To say that Bridget loves music is an understatement.   She loves to play with her guitar and press any button that will result in sound.
Favorite Food:  CHEERIOS…still!

Here they are!

Oktoberfest at the Puayllup Fair

Every year Brendan and I talk about going to  the Puyallup Fair Oktoberfest….and every year something happens and we end up not making it.   Well this year we made it!  Granted we got there about an hour before it closed….but we still made it and had a blast.   We danced to a yodeler, drank good beer, had some pretty fantastic food (Bridget at almost all of my cabbage roll) and got to hang out with Nana and Papa James.

Definitely a desired O’Brien tradition…let’s see if we can make next year happen!

Keri is in our country!

Keri, Joel and Jackson came for a quick visit.   I had to work most of the time they were here.  Keri was busy getting her Puyallup house ready for renting (and we got some good kiddo loot out of it!) So on the last day Keri and the boys came over for a visit.   We had a “picnic”  at our house and then bundled up to go to the park.   Bridget is just at the point where she is enjoying the park so this is one of her first adventures on the swing.   Jackson and Joel did an amazing job showing Pixie how to play at the park.  Then I showed Joel and Jackson how to run and scream at the park by playing a fake laser shooting (out of your finger) chasing game while Keri and Bridget sat on the sidelines commenting.   It was so much fun!

Jackson was so awesome pushing Pixie

The loves of my life...

We then took Keri up to Chanda’s house for a farewell visit. On our way up, this is what we saw in the back. As you know, Bridget DOES NOT sleep in the car. We can count on one hand the number of times this happens (one being very recent on our anniversary)….so I was shocked when I saw her asleep too!

One little sleeping baby....

Two little sleeping babies....
Three little sleeping babies!

A quiet visit at Chanda's house....Oh and Chanda was dog sitting which I do not think was something that she was very excited about!
You cannot see it,  but Alder is under the table making a face!
